until i left it all behind in the gold mine.

outside of this, various things to mention.
one of the most amazing songs in my mind in past years is "red blood" by chad vangaalen. every time i hear this song, i get affected. there are very few songs that seriously get me every time...but something about this one just gets me. i will try to put a clip on here (or at least link you to a clip...)

(hopefully that works)
anyways, outside of this. i decided to take a pretty thorough analysis on something that darrin and i spoke of yesterday.
Larry Craig on Wikipedia
turns out Larry has quite the history!
Darrin and I took the time to try figuring out the regular length of a business/airport bathroom stall and so forth. I did my research on many things here...so here we go.
taken from the MSP Airport site, here is a basic layout of one section of the airport: Map of the Airport. this disregards the original idea that we had that maybe each bathroom was relatively small. the average bathroom has at least 3' for the toilet alone. this makes this claim somewhat unbelievable. even in the case of someone with an injury (which was the other idea i tried to go with), the idea of having "that wide stance" seems really unimaginable. also keep in mind that even though it might not be a handicap stall, the average stall has to meet certain standards by the ADA, meaning that they have to have the possibility of having a wheelchair come in. the average length of a wheelchair is a width of 700mm by a length of 1200 (you can see this drafted example here).
i tried to find a regular length for shoulder width of men, but i could not find such info. this is all i could find instead: sizing chart. The only problem with this is i could not find craig's height online, although each report i've read said he'd have to be around "a really freaking tall height" to be having any form of stance as he is stating. one of them said something around the range of 9'-9'6" in height.
slate article <--just a great article on the subject
the next claim about trying to get a piece of paper under the stall also seemed weird to me. the average length between the floor and bottom of a stall is at least roughly 6"-1' in height and seems to make the idea of a "hovering hand" odd. it should not be that difficult to grab whatever article fell to the floor, seeing as it wouldn't get caught on anything.
as for the bag being put next to the door...there are signals that are spoken about in the slate article. that is the only part of the claim that means nothing to me for the most part. if you are in a stall, that's one of the only places to really put your bag. i'm not a guy, and yeah, i suppose there would be more room (unless you have to sit down, then you are forced to stick in there, most likely). from a woman's point of view, i put my bag near the door. it doesn't necessarily lean against the door, but its close to it. there really isn't anywhere else i can put my luggage.
this is part one of the ongoing "could this ever be true?" series.
