i ran into an issue today that i have yet to think of until now. i decided i needed to put all this down so i can reference to it later.
with conversion from autocad to microstation, most suggest simply doing a saveas, dwg>dgn transfer. the problem with this is when you have references involved. this makes it more complicated...and supposedly you can still reference it all easily (if you know how). since this is rather new to me, i tried to use a dxf file conversion (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AutoCAD_DXF) to start off the process. this also didn't really solve my issue, although it did compress the files down and made it seem somewhat easier, although in other ways more complicated. i then found out that when sending drawings with references to clients, you have to have everything within one folder. otherwise, the file will not find its references. they will detach, you will have to repath, and yadda yadda yadda.
this is my lesson for today. yes. today was a learning lesson day.
